Gloriana joins Linden Baroque Orchestra to sing an exuberant programme of Baroque music including two modern premières
In the busy orphanages for girls in 17th and 18th century Venice, of which Vivaldi’s Pietà was the best known, many composers in addition to Vivaldi, such as Porpora and Hasse, wrote music for the pupils. Both men later worked in Dresden where the highly regarded Zelenka was official court composer. Telemann also had strong connections with Dresden, which had become one of the major musical cities.
