If I had to pick a letter of the alphabet that could best sum up what Holiday Music is and what it does to you, it would be the letter E.
From the moment you enrol on the course, the expert musical director is already thoughtfully selecting repertoire to suit both the participants and the chamber groups that emerge, creating an immediate sense of engagement and expectation.
The coaching sessions are naturally educational, giving you space to express your musicality while enhancing your playing and fostering a real sense of empowerment. There is also a strong feeling of ensemble—a shared experience that encourages empathy, connection, and mutual support among the groups.
Each day is well structured, with a balance of coaching, relaxation, and entertainment. There is always time to practise, but learning the music in advance is essential if you want to fully benefit from the guidance and retain the refinements along the way.
By the end of the course, your playing will have been noticeably elevated through this concentrated and enriching mix of musical activity.
The final concerts are often exhilarating, with oodles of enjoyment, and charged with a palpable sense of encouragement and shared elation. I always leave with a feeling of euphoria and a dollop of exhaustion, which serves as a reminder of just how encompassing and immersive it is.
This time, even the composers joined in the “E” theme, with music from Eschmann and Eccles.
Encore!
